This is on the part of the trail (sidewalk at this point actually) that heads west next to Algonquin Road right after you cross Roselle Road.

I normally skip this part of the trail now since most of the rest of the trail is so much nicer. I would often cross Algonquin Road at the intersection and head south on the actual bike path (next to the golf course) then go all the way around Paul Douglas forest preserve to Ela (where this section ends) then turn around to skip this section. There are a number of the business entrances of of Algonquin road (just past Roselle Road) on the right here and you need to be aware of the cars pulling in and out of the entrances.

Here's a good shot of how close the trail is to Algonquin Road at some points... I would say not much more than a foot here with no guard rails or anything between the trail and the fast moving 4 lane traffic. This is one of the reasons that I am not too crazy about this stretch of the trail.

This is coming up to Ela Road, where the trail switchs over to the other side (the Paul Douglas Forest Preserve section). It gets much nicer after you cross Algonquin Road. I really wish there was a way to extend the path on the other side of the road here.

Once you cross Algonquin and Ela roads there a nice section that runs along (just barely inside) the Paul Douglas forest rreserve.

This is the fist leg of this part of the trail. I'd love to see the trail branch off into the forest Preserve at this point. Paul Douglas forest preserve is a very large piece of land (almost as large as Busse Woods I believe) but there is almost no access into the preserve (other than on foot). There is only one park entrance (on the south side of the forest preserve) and it doesn't really go very far into it either.

The photo tour below is the new Paul Douglas Loop from early spring of 2009. The trail had just been completed but the grass on the shoulders of the trail had not come in yet (it looks greener and nicer now).
