Here's the photo tour trail head. I don't know if they call this part of the trail, the Algonquin Road Trail but this little wooded 1/2 mile section connects to the main trail at Euclid road on the North side of Harper College.

The trail runs by scenic Peregrine Lake at this point and you can continue out into the neighborhood from here if you like. There are some marked bike paths in the neighborhood and there are quite a few miles of residential roads with little traffic in this area. You can also cross over into a nice section of Inverness if you know which roads to take (see the Inverness Bike Trail pages on this site for more on this).

You can see the Peregrine Park gazebo by the lake. This is actually a fairly small lake and the bike path winds around the lake on two sides.

Riding alongside Peregrine Lake on the left at this point. I have seen people fish on this lake and I know that there are fish in it (Carp I think). I live near here so I am much more familiar with this lake than most people. My family and I actually used to boat on this lake and even ice skate on it in the winter. The lake is very shallow. I have also seen fish jumping out and into this lake in the spring and summer and even saw a guy just scooping fish from the lake while walking along the shore with a net.

Through a short wooded section. This part of the trail gets really dark at night.

There is a small opening on either side of the trail at this point. The path crosses where the stream feeds the lake about 1/10th of a mile ahead. Just after that the path curves to the south and up a hill where it heads out towards Euclid Avenue and Harper College. There are also a couple of businesses along this side of the path (more on that in the upcoming pages).

The photo tour below is the new Paul Douglas Loop from early spring of 2009. The trail had just been completed but the grass on the shoulders of the trail had not come in yet (it looks greener and nicer now).
