The Paul Douglas Bike Trail Photos
Starting at Roselle and Algonquin

The photo above is the crossing at Algonquin Road at Roselle This is a very busy intersection and the bike path is kitty corner from Harper College. This would be the north east corner of the Bike Trail that goes around Paul Douglas Forest Preserve.

You could get on the trail here if you parked at Harper College but I think more people park at the only entrance into Paul Douglas which is off of Central Road (the road that runs parallel to I90). There are pedestrian signals at the light and buttons to get the signal but it is still a really busy intersection where you need to really watch the traffic.

The photo above is from the Paul Douglas Bike Trail heading south on the part that runs parallel to Roselle Road (on the left) and Highland Woods Gold Course on the right.

This part of the trail actually goes around the eastern and southern sides of the golf course. The golf course is on the right of the bike trail here and you are fairly close to is (as shown in the photo above).

This trail had only been completed for a few months at the time of these photos (May of 2009). The grass had been planted but it has not come in yet. I watched them build this trail (I used to commute along Roselle Road at the time) and I believe that I was one of the first riders to use the trail on a regular basis. I rode this trail before they completed paving it on the western side of the forest preserve (just before the Grassy Ridge Meadow entrance and parking).

The bike trail runs right by this Forest Preserve house off of Roselle Road.

There are plenty of hill warnings, as you see on the right here (and many that are not really necessary, imho). The photo above is still parallel to Roselle Road (and just pas the forest preserve house).
